The WTF Blanket vs. The Snuggie

The WTF Blanket is a parody video of The Snuggie. The Snuggie is a blanket with sleeves that is meant to help people do their everyday tasks without any struggle. The blanket has a good concept, but it looks really dumb. In The WTF Blanket video, they continuously talk about how The Snuggie is useless and a waste of money. It uses much truth to make the video funny. It talks about how it is unnecessary to use a blanket with sleeves when you can just move the blanket with little inconvenience. The video also uses bluntness. The name of the blanket is blunt and unexpected. It is also a blunt statement when the guy says how retarded the blanket looks when people wear it.

Process Analysis

For my visual essay project, my topic was anti war. I narrowed this topic down to be against the war on terror. This is an ongoing war in both Iraq and Afghanistan that are unnecessary and are killing innocent men and women on both sides. George W. Bush sent these troops over seas after the 9/11 attack. The goal was to end terrorism and make these countries better and we have mostly succeeded in this effort. Now we need to get these troops back and stop anymore possible deaths.
In my visual essay, I used 20 hand picked photos that had to do with my claim. These photos were put in no specific order but each have a specific reason for being there. Three of them were really important and went along with my claim very well. My most important of the 3 was picture number 11. It was an image of a man/woman wearing a black hood and a white mask with red tear drops on it, holding a sign saying,"Iraq: 100,000+, U.S: 2,300+, how many more?" These numbers represented the number of casualties on each side of this war and the effects that they cause to people. It gives people a view on the physical and emotional toll the war is taking and it's basically wanting to know how many more people need to die before it is over. Another important picture is number 12. This shows an anti war on terror protest where a woman is holding up a sign that says, "Bush is more evil than Bin Laden." This image shows how people feel about the war and how they feel about Bush, the man who started it. I also used this image for comic relief. This picture says that Bush is evil, and many people hate Bush whether the are republican or democratic so I thought that it would make people laugh. My 3rd important image is picture number 4. It is a picture stating that War is good for few and bad for most. This is talking about how corrupt politicians are the few that war is good for and the most that it is bad for is the rest of the U.S. These images are important to my project, because they get right to the point and explain the main idea of my essay.
The song is another important part of the visual essay. It makes it more entertaining and supports the claim if you choose the right song. My song for my visual essay is Where is the Love by The Black Eyed Peas. I chose this song, because was and is a popular song and it had to do with anti war and terrorist issues. It speaks the truth and goes exactly with my visual essay claim. This song connects with the audience, because it is a popular song and many people agree with the song as well as my claim. This Visual essay is geared towards democrats and/or those who are against the current war effort in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Modes of Discourse

The first engine running car was invented in 1672. Over the years cars have become more advanced and more efficient. Now days, people drive all types of cars whether good or bad. Cars give of many gases that are bad for the atmosphere including, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.
Different types of cars are better and worse for the environment. Hybrid cars dont use the same fuel so they are much better than an SUV or some sort of truck. Cars harm our living and are both good and bad. In my opinion, I think that people should only use cars for long distance traveling or distances of 1 mile or more. Otherwise I think that people should walk or bike everywhere else because, it is good for health and our environment. If this doesn't work out then puplic transportation is the next best thing.
Growing up, kids are told not to smoke, do drugs, or have sex until you are married. Well teens these days are known for doing all of the things. We grow up learning about the negative things about these like OD's and STD's (over doses)(Sexually transmitted diseases).
My whole point in this post is telling about haw cars are bad for the environment. It also talks about how teens rebel against what there parents say.

Life is a confusing thing. You can become confused at any moment about anything. For example i am often confused in school. I don't understand the material or what we are supposed to be doing and that causes much confusion for me.
In 2nd grade, i was in Ms. Freshwaters class on the morning of 9/11. We arrived at school and in every room, there was a tv on showing the plane as it crashed into the twin towers. Teachers were astonished and some even crying but I and the rest of my class were confused about the entire thing and had no idea what had happened. Teachers throughout the day tried to explain to us what occured that day until weunderstood the negative impact it had on us. 2nd grade on 9/11 was a confusing day.

What I think is funny

I am a happy person and many things in my opinion are funny. One person that I think is funny is Kevin Hart. He is a black comedian who likes to tell jokes involving him, his family and his life. I think that he is funny, because of what he says and how he says and acts it out. What really makes him funny in both the opinions of mine and others is how he talks.
He talks in a manner that anyone would understand and he says things that people can relate to. He talks negatively about his kids, because he knows how people feel about their lives and they can relate to both the family side and the life side. He talks about funny things that have occurred throughout his life and jokes about the positive and negative points.

Benefits of Writing

In my opinion there are no benefits to writing in my life. In the world though there are many benefits whether positive or negative. Writing is often used as record keeping for all kinds of things. People will write stuff to record events that are historical to all or just to themselves. writing helps to get your feelings out and onto paper. Whether positive or negative feelings, it keeps from the build up of emotions. writing helps people remember things. In my case, if i have something on my mind that i know i will forget, i will write it down so i dont forget.

Is Lying Ever Ethical?

In the book Fight Club, the unnamed narrator is a man that suffers with insomnia. His doctor recommends that he attends support groups to know what real suffering is. He lies by impersonating a man with these issues and cries to help deal with his pain. He encounters a woman named Marla who finds out that he is lying and reminds him every time he tries to cry. Him not crying screws up his mind and his insomnia returns.

Throughout the book he continues lying and attending the meetings but he makes a truce with Marla to attend seperate meetings. He attempts to deal with it by hosting an underground fight club with friend Tyler.

This compares to the book Secret Life of Bees. Lily lies to her dad in the book as well as to the black women in the house she moves to. neither have an ethical reason to lie and this is negative towards both of the characters. This also compares to the book Persepolis. In the book, Marjane lies to her parents when the ask her what she wants to be when she grows up. She tells them that she wants to be a doctor, because she knows thats what they want to hear even though she wants to be the last prophet.

I believe lying is sometimes ethical, depending on the circumstances. In Fight Club he was recommended and it was to help with a medical condition, so i believe it was ok.
